Anyone craving deep fried goodies, longing for thrill rides or hoping to catch a concert on the Alabama National Fair's outdoor stage Wednesday in Montgomery will have to wait another day. So will fair fans in Prattville, where the Autauga County Fair is canceled Wednesday as well.

Citing severe weather concerns, the Alabama National Fair announced shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday that it would not open at 3 p.m. Forecasts called for a heavy chance of storms all afternoon.

The Autauga County Fair announced it would cancel Wednesday plans at roughly the same time.

With the closure, a scheduled concert with JJ Weeks at Alabama National Fair will not take place, according to the fair office. Fairgoers will also miss out on one of the week's chances to grab blowing cash in the money machine. An extra day of this later in the week has not been rescheduled, according to the office.

At the Autauga County Fair, canceled concerts include the 3 Broke Girls Band and Blaine McDonald. There's been no word on when or if these concerts would be rescheduled.

Alabama National Fair back on Thursday

The release said the fair will be open 9 a.m. on Thursday, which is Senior Day from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday is also $2 day admittance with the donation of canned goods for the Montgomery Area Food Bank. Rides will open at 3 p.m.

Among the attractions for this year's fair is a shark encounter, racing pigs, K9s in Flight, and the Zerbini Family Circus.

The band Steel CuZ'n will perform Thursday at 7 p.m. on the outdoor stage. Inside Garrett Coliseum, money machine cash grabs are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Autauga County Fair also back Thursday

The Autauga County Fair will open at 5 p.m. Thursday. Midway rides open at 6 p.m.

Fair officials announced that they would extend Wednesday's planned Community Night offer to bring three cans of food for entry on Thursday. That night, there will be ride tickets only sold, no armbands. Also, there will be no can donations for discounts on the midway.

Thursday will feature CJ's Dance Factory at 5:10 p.m., the Marbury High School Band at 6:30 p.m., Chungs Tae Kwan Do demonstration at 7 p.m. and music from Mac Cone at 8 p.m.
