Badlands Baptist Association host Badlands Ladies Retreat

Mar. 31—In life, a chance to catch one's breath and to resettle can make all the difference. The women of Belfield Baptist Church keep this in mind as they prepare for the 2021 Badlands Baptist Association Ladies' Retreat. They welcome all ladies to join them in dedicating time to refocus mentally and spiritually.

This two day retreat will take place in Medora at the AmericInn from April 30 through May 1. The women will have the option to stay overnight for $80 or return the following day session for $25. The overnight package will include two meals and the room will be twin beds with two women per room.

The retreat will have two guest speakers from Pensacola, Fla., that will lead teachings of the Bible with the topic of women in the Bible. There will also be local women that will speak of the topic of devotion. The first night will begin with dinner at 6 p.m. followed by a bible study session and teaching and will go on until around 9:30 p.m.

The following morning there will be a breakfast and the session will start with a Bible study at 7 and 8 and the teaching will continue into the afternoon. No later than 2 p.m.

Lillian Vickery husband, Larry Vickery is the pastor of the Belfield Baptist Church. He is also the director of missions for the Badland Baptist Association.

The Belfield Baptist church stream live their Sunday preaching on their Facebook page, Belfield Baptist. It begins around 9:30 a.m. The streaming does not include the praise and worship to avoid music licensing issues. This began at the end of March, last year.

"The main reason for starting it was for when all the churches were closed. We did honor that of the governor... we shut down our Sunday school, our prayer meetings and we shut down our worship service," Larry Vickery said. "At 9:30 each Sunday while we were shut down, we had the preaching part of it (for online). I told our people what we were going to do and I would be preaching and anyone who wanted to come can come and be part of it. Just about our entire congregation kept coming so it worked out well for us."

Larry Vickery said they did not encourage anyone to come but kept the door open. That being small in numbers worked out well for them.

For those who would like to attend the full service, praise and worship starts at 9 a.m., preaching is at 9:30 a.m., fellowship time begins at 10 a.m. and then a Bible study from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

"We are always welcome to have new members of anyone who would like to attend our services," Larry Vickery said.

The Badlands Baptist Association is a nonprofit that is active in the area. It started in 1995. There are eight separate churches that are members of the BBA. Two of which are local to the area, the New Beginning Church in Dickinson and the Bellfield Baptist Church.
