BAE Systems of York awarded $63.94M in new contracts from U.S. Army

BAE Systems Land & Armaments LP of York has been granted a contract modification for more than $63.94 million.

This contract is for the production and delivery of the M109A7 self-propelled howitzers and M992A3 carrier ammunition tracked vehicles, according to an announcement by the U.S. Department of Defense.

The M109A7 is an advanced self-propelled howitzer that incorporates state-of-the-art technology, including improved fire control systems, enhanced survivability features and a chassis designed for better overall performance and maneuverability in combat situations.

The M992A3 Carrier Ammunition Tracked Vehicle is specifically designed to support the M109A7 howitzer. It provides an armored ammunition carrying capability, enabling it to safely and efficiently transport a large quantity of artillery rounds directly to the howitzers in the field.

The project has an anticipated completion date of Dec. 30, 2027. The Army Contracting Command located in Detroit Arsenal, Michigan, is overseeing the contracting process.

Funding for the contract comes from the 2023 fiscal year allocations for weapons and tracked combat vehicles procurement, along with Army funds and operation and maintenance, defense-wide funds.
