Bah humbug! Fred Loya Christmas lights show not happening in 2021

El Pasoans will go another year without the Fred Loya Christmas lights show.

A representative from the Fred Loya Insurance office confirmed that the light show will not return this year out of caution over the coronavirus pandemic.

Insurance company owner Fred Loya traditionally has enjoyed setting up thousands of lights on Paseo de Oro with synchronized music at his home for the holidays, even adding holiday characters and handing out hot chocolate. However, the celebration draws throngs of people to the East Side neighborhood.

This will be the second year since the pandemic that the holiday tradition is tabled.
