Bail set at $1.5M for Montgomery man arrested on drug charges

The Montgomery Police Department arrested a Montgomery man Wednesday who they said had 71 grams of cocaine, 4 grams of marijuana and 17 tablets of ecstasy, court documents show.

Judge Pamela Higgins set bail for Orlando Powell at more than $1.5 million, according to court documents.

Officers charged Powell, 52, with second-degree unlawful possession of marijuana, trafficking in illegal drugs and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, Maj. Saba Coleman said in an email.

At about 4 p.m. police arrested him in the area of West Edgemont Avenue and Gaston Avenue. They took him to the Montgomery jail, Coleman said.
