A man killed in a crash when a driver reportedly went through a stop sign Wednesday in rural Fresno County was identified.
The Fresno County Coroner’s Office said 48-year-old Jeff Mullhofer of Bakersfield was killed when a service truck headed north on James Road failed to stop on Manning Avenue before striking a Ford pickup.
The collision southwest of Tranquillity happened at 9:30 a.m.
Mullhofer was the passenger in the Ford. The California Highway Patrol said the Ford did not have a stop sign.
The service truck hit the passenger side of the Ford, which veered into a field.
Mullhofer was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said. The driver of the pickup had moderate injuries.
The driver of the service truck was not injured and neither driver was suspected of being impaired, according to the CHP.
