Balanced scoring gives Bulldogs win over Comstock

Comstock put up a pretty good fight, but in the end Centreville was too much.

The Bulldogs improved to 10-3 on the season with a 67-51 victory over the Colts. Four Bulldog players reached double figures in the game, which saw Centreville reach double-digit scoring in all four frames.

The opener saw Micah Lemings and Harrison Gregory pace the Bulldogs. The duo each scored eight points, piling up the 16 Centreville scored in the first quarter. Comstock was able to stay close as Masson Mollohan scored six points and the Colts put up 12 total in the opening eight minutes.

An impressive 20-point quarter for Comstock in the second kept them around as well. Mollohan poured in 14 points in the second, but Centreville countered.

The Bulldogs scored 20 points themselves, with Roman Robinson leading the way with eight points. Lemings put in seven and Centreville held a 36-32 advantage into the second half.

A key points in the game was the third quarter. There, Centreville out-scored Comstock 14-5 and built a lead of 50-37 entering the final eight minutes. In that final eight minutes, Mollohan scored 12 in the fourth quarter by himself, but Comstock could not overcome the deficit.

For the game, Mollohan finished with a game-high 32 points.

Centreville’s four double figure scorers were Lemings with 22, Gregory with 15, Robinson with 14 and Jacob Sikanas with 13. Gavin Bunning added three points in the game as well.

Centreville made 16-of-23 free throws in the contest, Comstock was only 5-of-11.

Bronson beats Jonesville

The Bronson boys are red hot. The Vikings won for the third consecutive time on Tuesday night, beating Jonesville (12-3) 56-46. The win for Bronson was the fourth in the last five games as well and avenged an earlier-season loss to Jonesville (52-41).

The win puts Bronson at 8-8 on the season.

The Vikings led 13-7 after one quarter of play, but trailed 23-20 at the break. The two teams were tied at 34-34 heading to the final frame.

In that final quarter, Aden Hathaway buried three triples and Bronson poured in 22 points to secure the win.

Hathaway led Bronson with 22 points, Kamron Brackett tossed in 18 as well. Boston Bucklin finished with eight points, Sayler Wotta added four and Tanner Norton connected for three. Dom Kiomento also scored two points in the win.

Mendon beats Bloomingdale

The Mendon boys beat Bloomingdale on Tuesday, 60-42.

“Good win for us tonight, we came out in the third quarter and were able to go up big,” Mendon coach Danny Schragg said. “Our press held them to eight points in the third quarter and we were able to get some fast break points. We did some things well but still need to improve each day, we’re playing much better, just need to be solid for four whole quarters.”

Jack McCaw led the Hornets with 17 points and four steals, Luke Schinker and Gabe Haigh each tossed in nine points. Noah Roberts finished with six points, six assists and four rebounds, Ryder Gorham scored six points and Owen Gorham added five.

Chase Hostetler and Jackson Simmons both scored two points.

White Pigeon beats Bangor

The White Pigeon boys beat Bangor on Tuesday night, 59-50.

The Chiefs scored 18 points in the fourth quarter to secure the victory.

In the win, Josh Davidson scored a career-high 16 points for White Pigeon. Chris Jackson added 12 points while Ty Strawser connected for 11 points.

Mekhi Singleton scored six points, Adam Picking added five while Wes Roberts added three and Zach Soward scored two.

Berrien Springs beats Constantine

The Constantine boys dropped a 52-25 decision to Berrien Springs on Tuesday.

In the game, Carter McGee led the Falcons with seven points. Joshua Outlaw added five points while Ethan Glick and Donovan Miller each scored three. Lukas Hagenbuch and Cooper Juday each scored two points.

Hartford tops Marcellus

The Marcellus boys fell to Hartford on Tuesday, 56-50. The Wildcats out-scored Hartford 12-8 in the third and 19-14 in the fourth, but could not overcome a 34-19 halftime deficit.

Beau Ferguson tossed in 13 points while Parker Adams and Nathan Mihills each scored 11 for Marcellus. Quinton Tone scored nine points, Dawson Lehew added four and Yona Goodlow scored two.

Dowagiac beats Three Rivers

Three Rivers fell 69-62 to Dowagiac on Tuesday evening.

Despite defeat, there was some good news as senior Andrew Brown surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career. Brown became the sixth Three Rivers male basketball player to reach the feat.

In the game, Brown scored 32 points and Luis Warmack tossed in 10.
