Cleveland Guardians fans buoyed by the news that Sinclair Broadcasting will be launching a Bally Sports app shouldn’t celebrate just yet.

Sinclair announced they plan to launch the app this summer with an expected price point of $189.99 annually or $19.99 per month. That’s great for fans of the Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals Miami Marlins, Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays.

For fans of any other MLB team, not so much. That includes the Guardians, whose games remain elusive for fans who have cut the cord or never had cable. Currently the only way to watch their games is through local cable providers. The only way to stream games through a non-cable provider comes courtesy of DirecTV Stream.

Will the Guardians ever make its way to the Bally Sports app? Right now that remains a mystery, but during a recent earnings call executives for Sinclair said they were engaged in “constructive dialogue” with other MLB teams.

A stronger push for the app will likely come this fall when the NBA and NHL seasons begin. As one of 16 NBA teams Sinclair has in-market streaming rights to, the Cavs would be available. The Columbus Blue Jackets are also one of 12 NHL teams that will be available.
