2019 Ingenuity Math and Science Symposium

The Ingenuity Project provides a rigorous math, science and research curriculum to 650 middle and high school students in Baltimore City Public Schools at four locations, including Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. The symposium offers a platform for our students to showcase their projects from the mathematics and research curriculum. During the Research Practicum experience, students work with mentors at Baltimore-area colleges, universities and other research institutions to develop independent research projects. They submit their work to national pre-college competitions such as the Regeneron Science Talent Search.

Super Science Sleepover: May the 24th be With You.

Hop into your Landspeeders and head to the Maryland Science Center for a night of family fun in a galaxy far, far away. Embrace your inner Kylo Ren and prepare to join the dark side. Train like a sith to take down the resistance, program an evil First Order droid through a maze, and build your own star destroyer. Children must be age 5 or older, and all children must have an adult in their party.

Urban Ecology for Community Engagement

Join us as bird ecologist Eric Fishel talks about his research and associated world adventures. Eric is an Open Society Institute Baltimore Community Fellow. His project, Baltimore Foodparks, is looking for innovative ways to engage people with their local ecosystems to improve underserved urban neighborhoods. Can we engage a community through the study of birds? Will it help people to see vacant land in a new way - as potential green space? Eric engages communities through up-close and personal research.
