A mechanic and four members of the Baltimore Police aviation unit contracted the coronavirus, causing the department to temporarily ground the police helicopter known as Foxtrot.

Detective Donny Moses, a police spokesman, said several other members of the unit are in quarantine. The helicopter won’t fly Friday.

“We hope for it to be back up tomorrow or Sunday,” Moses said.

Nearly 32,000 people have contracted the virus in Baltimore and at least 690 people died of it in the city, according to Maryland Department of Health statistics.
