Jan. 24: "The Son" (2022), rated PG-13, two hours and three minutes, is a drama written by Christopher Hampton and Florian Zeller, directed by Zeller. "The Son" stars Hugh Jackman, Laura Dern, Vanessa Kirby and Anthony Hopkins. Peter (Jackman) is trying to start a new life with his partner Beth (Kirby) and their new baby, when ex-wife Kate (Dern) arrives with their troubled teen-aged son Nicholas (Zen McGrath). Hopkins, who won his second best actor Oscar for his role as an Alzheimer's sufferer in "The Father," plays Peter's father in "The Son," though it's not the same character.

"The Inspection"

Jeremy Pope and Raul Castillo are among the stars in 2022 film "The Inspection," about a young gay black man struggling to earn acceptance in the Marine Corps. It's written and directed by Elegance Bratton, based on his life experiences.
