Bands on the Blue: Treasure Valley high schools compete in District III festival

More than 25 Treasure Valley high school bands competed Saturday in five classifications at the annual Idaho District III Mel Shelton Marching Band Festival on the blue turf at Albertsons Stadium on Boise State’s campus.

Mountain View won the top prizes, claiming the first place overall in the Sweepstakes category and finishing first in the 5A-Large classification. Mountain View also won the Mel Shelton Overall Music Award.

Eagle was second and defending champion Timberline third in the 5A-Large division.

Borah finished first and Owyhee second in the 5A-Small competition.

Ridgevue High was the 4A winner, while Weiser took the top prize in 3A and Marsing in 2A.
