Bank of Okolona changes name to BankOkolona

Jun. 1—TUPELO — As of yesterday, the Bank of Okolona is no more; now, it's BankOkolona.

The Northeast Mississippi bank, with its roots running back to the Great Depression, recently announced it was adapting a new moniker to reflect the financial institution's desire to be "better together" by consolidating its branch names.

According to a press release announcing the change, BankOkolona CEO John Herrod Jr. said the new name, which unifies all four of its branches, was promped to increase name recognition within the markets it serves.

"The change to BankOkolona will unify our approach to being 'better together' with our bank and the communities we serve," Herrod said via the bank's statement.

The change will "allow for a streamlined approach to launch new products and new markets," the press release reads.

Bank of Okolona was launched October 31, 1930, and has been

continued to grow over its 90-year history. The bank began to expand in

2008 with the first branch in Houston, Mississippi, and has

continued to grow its reach by opening branches in Mantee (2012) and Bruce (2016).

The bank recently opened a Loan & Deposit Production office in Tupelo.
