Banner day for Glacier's duos

Apr. 29—Glacier's Harrison Sanders and Timmy Glanville defeated teammates Trey Engellant and Ethan Woods to claim the No. 1 doubles title at the Western AA Invitational at FVCC on Saturday, one of several Wolfpack doubles wins.

The meet featured 188 matches and besides Flathead and Glacier, visiting teams included Butte, Helena High, Helena Capital and Missoula Big Sky. Play stretched from the morning to late evening, with some matches still in play at 8 p.m.

Another Glacier duo won a doubles title Saturday: Haven Speer and Sarah Downs, who also had to play teammates in the chipper. Speer and Downs topped Collette Daniels and Katy Bitney 6-2 for the No. 1 girls doubles title.

Glacier had another winner in Will Rudbach, who defeated Helena Capital's Ashton Shipley for the No. 1 boys singles title.

Flathead's Alexis Kersten lost a tough one to Helena High's Qayl Kujala in the No. 1 girls singles final, which Kujala won 6-3.

Cassidy and Cadence Daniels won another doubles title for Glacier in the No. 2 bracket against teammates Tori Dobis and Claire Ennis.

Dobis and Ennis defeated Flathead's Chloe Converse and Keegan Williams in the semifinal.

In No. 2 boys singles, Robby Thornburg claimed the title, and in No. 3 doubles, Kevin Fortin and Jack Boone got another win for Glacier, beat Matthew Flannick and Jack Prigge for the top spot.
