Baptist Hospital surgery discharge lounge to be named in honor of Margie and Alan Moore

Margie and Alan Moore have made an impactful gift to Baptist Health Care Foundation to benefit the new Baptist Hospital campus, scheduled to open in September. The foundation will name the surgery discharge lounge and the fourth-floor conference room in the hospital’s cardiovascular intensive care unit in honor of the Moores’ gift.

The surgery discharge lounge will provide a quiet discharge area for outpatient surgery patients to exit the hospital privately. This space will have a dedicated elevator between the surgery floor and the lounge waiting area that will offer increased privacy and allow patients to be picked up directly outside the lounge by their caretakers.

The Moores, who have been married for more than 40 years, said that supporting Baptist seemed like a natural fit in their philanthropic priorities. Alan was born at Baptist in 1952, one year after the hospital opened. Both of their daughters were born at Baptist, as well as two of their four grandchildren. Margie has been serving on Baptist boards and committees since 1990.

SRCAS joins ‘Clear The Shelters’ pet adoption and donation campaign

Santa Rosa County Animal Services has joined NBCUniversal Local’s 2023 Clear The Shelters pet adoption and donation campaign now through Aug. 31. Adoption fees at SRCAS will be waived on Aug. 25 and 26.

This is the ninth consecutive year NBC and Telemundo-owned stations are partnering with affiliate stations, animal shelters and rescues to promote pet adoption and raise funds for animal welfare. Since its inception in 2015, Clear The Shelters has helped more than 860,000 pets find new homes.

SRCAS has been at or above capacity for the entirety of 2023, this national trend of overcrowded shelters has been an ongoing issue. Partnerships with organizations, like NBCUniversal Local, to provide reduced or waived adoption fees can help shelters find more forever homes for the community's most vulnerable animals. Consider adopting pets from the local shelter.

The 2023 Clear The Shelters will again feature online donations through Greater Good Charities, a global nonprofit and longtime campaign partner, which will host the fundraising campaign, built courtesy of Fundraise Up, an online donation platform that helps nonprofits grow revenue. Donors have the option to cover transaction fees with their donation so that 100 percent goes directly to the shelter or rescue of their choice. Online donations can be made during the campaign at ClearTheSheltersFund.org.
