Anyone who's been out to a bar before knows to always be wary of what you're drinking. That said, most people aren't prepared for, say, potentially lethal chemicals to end up in their drinks.

Related: A man named Leon Williams hit the town at a bar called Heaven and Hell in the Washington D.C. area late last year and ordered his go-to drink, a classic Long Island Iced Tea. But he noticed there was something iffy about this one when it didn't taste like his usual order.

He reportedly went up to the bartender, insisting that the cocktail had been tainted with something. "When I first drank it, I was like, 'Man, this ain't right.' I got up, I told him to taste this drink, then I saw a bottle behind the counter," he explained to FOX 5 when the incident happened: "I grabbed it and it was that clear, bright stuff—that poison stuff that he put in my drink."

Apparently, the drink was mistakenly made with Foam-Brite Condenser Coil Cleaner (colloquially known as "yellow death") rather than with a mixer that was a similar color. Williams was subsequently hospitalized for chemical burns in his throat.

Though the incident happened more than a year ago, the bar has officially been fined $90,000 along with a 90-day liquor license suspension by the District Regulatory Commission for what happened that night, DCist reported this week.

Moral of the story? Watch your drinks, people. Always be careful when it comes to adult beverages.
