Barbashev signs two-year pact with Blues

Restricted free agent forward Ivan Barbashev agreed to terms on a two-year, $2.95 million contract with the St. Louis Blues, the team announced Sunday.

The contract has an average annual value of $1.475 million for Barbashev, who recorded career highs in goals (14), assists (12) and points (26) in 80 regular-season games with the Blues last season.

Barbashev also added three goals and three assists in 25 postseason games in the spring as the Blues went on to win the first Stanley Cup title in franchise history.

The 23-year-old Russian scored a goal against the Boston Bruins in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals. He also was suspended for Game 6 after delivering an illegal check to the head of Bruins forward Marcus Johansson.

Barbashev has collected 26 goals and 25 assists in 163 regular-season games since being selected by St. Louis in the second round of the 2014 NHL Draft.
