Shiners on the Levee, a casual barbeque eatery with live country music and entertainment, will open this fall at Newport on the Levee.

The new restaurant is owned and operated by Kentucky native Kevin Dailey, who signed a deal with Cincinnati-based North American Properties to open Shiners in an 8,400-square-foot space formerly occupied by Dick’s Last Resort restaurant, which closed in 2016.

North American bought the mall in 2018 and has added a slew of new restaurants and retailers as part of its $100 million plan to redevelop the 360,000-square-foot, town-center-style shopping center on the banks of the Ohio River.

“The Levee is an untapped jewel with so much potential to be the entertainment anchor of Northern Kentucky...it’s so inspiring to see all the new businesses springing up throughout the market. Having the opportunity to come home and build this brand from the ground up with my family and friends by my side is a real dream come true,'' Dailey said.

Shiners will offer a traditional smokehouse barbeque-inspired menu that will include shareable appetizers, salads, sandwiches, smoked meats and sides, according to a press release.

The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, and serve as an after-hours watering hole with live music, line dancing and karaoke.

The inside will feature a central bar surrounded by a stage and raised, reserved seating.

Outside, a 3,800-square-foot patio space will include elements such as a firepit, picnic tables with bench seating, LED screens and a dedicated patio bar.

The restaurant is being designed by Reztark Design Studio and the general contractor is Turner Construction Co.
