Barbie confirms 4K Blu-ray release date

Barbie has been given a 4K Blu-ray release date — and it's really soon.
Just over a month after the film was made available to purchase on digital, Greta Gerwig's Barbie movie is getting a physical media release.
The blockbuster movie is set for release on 4K Blu-ray, Blu-ray and DVD on October 17 — meaning fans have just two weeks left to wait to own a physical copy of the film (via The Wrap).
Featuring a host of bonus features and extras, the 4K Blu-ray version of Barbie is available for pre-order for £24.99 on Amazon UK and $29.96 on Amazon US.

The release will also include behind-the-scenes featurettes titled 'Welcome to Barbie Land', 'Becoming Barbie', 'Playing Dress-Up', 'Musical Make-Believe', 'All-Star Barbie Party' and 'It’s A Weird World'.
Unfortunately for fans of the star-studded movie, a director's commentary from Gerwig isn't available on the disc.
Starring Margot Robbie as one of several Barbies and Ryan Gosling as one of many Kens, the movie has proved to be a massive hit with critics and fans, passing the $1 billion mark at the global box office soon after its release on July 21.

Previously speaking about the possibility of a Barbie sequel, Gerwig said she wasn't planning on making a follow-up.
"At this moment, it's all I've got. I feel like that at the end of every movie, like I'll never have another idea and everything I've ever wanted to do, I did," Gerwig told The New York Times.
"I wouldn't want to squash anybody else's dream, but for me, at this moment, I'm at totally zero," she added.
Before this, Gerwig told People she hoped her movie would be "the launch of a world and a bunch of different Barbie movies".
