Barn razed in Wednesday fire on Gilbert Road

A barn was left a smoldering pile of rubble after a fire broke out late Wednesday afternoon.

The Wright-Waldron Fire Department was dispatched for a report of a structure fire in the 14000 block of Gilbert Road, about a mile north of Territorial Road, just after 5 p.m. Wednesday and arrived to find the structure had suffered a complete collapse due to the fire.

Mutual aid quickly arrived from Pioneer and Alvordton, Ohio, Moreni and the Woodbridge Township Fire Department and together firefighters prevented flames from spreading beyond the barn.

No injuries were reported in the fire and the Michigan State Police assisted on scene.
