Barnegat-Area Coronavirus Updates: School Temporarily Remote, MVC

BARNEGAT, NJ — Here are the latest coronavirus updates regarding Barnegat and Manahawkin.

Cases

The Ocean County Health Department has reported 446 coronavirus cases and 29 deaths in Stafford as of Monday morning. That's an increase of 58 cases and one new death since Barnegat-Manahawkin Patch's last update Oct. 2.

The OCHD has tallied 369 cases and 12 deaths in Barnegat as of Monday morning — an increase of 30 cases and no additional deaths since Oct. 2.

Officials reported 42 new cases Sunday in Ocean County, bringing the area to 16,456 cases and 997 deaths since the pandemic began.

Recent Updates

  • Ocean Acres Elementary School temporarily went remote after officials identified three coronavirus cases at the school. The school will go virtual next week and return to in-person learning Nov. 9, after the November break. MORE.

  • After months of long lines, the Manahawkin MVC will reopen Nov. 2 on an appointment-only basis. The Manahawkin facility is closed until then, because an employee tested positive for COVID-19. MORE.
