London’s West End is coming to downtown Alexandria when “The Barricade Boys” take the stage at the Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Saturday for the second stop on their U.S. tour. This will be their only Louisiana performance.

Craig Mather, Kieran Brown, Scott Garnhan and Simon Schofield who make up “The Barricade Boys” are four cast members from London’s cast of “Les Miserables” who will perform songs from well-known musicals and music from contemporary artists like Ed Sheeran.

“I saw these guys perform and was very impressed with their vocal harmony skills and their interaction with the audience and their charisma,” said Matt Henry, executive director of the Arts Council of Central Louisiana, adding that this show is of the closest things Broadway-style production that they can bring here.

Those who see the show are going to love it and most will know the music very well, he said.

“They go everywhere from Queen to Elton John to the Beatles to the Rolling Stones and beyond. They do a lot of contemporary music that people will end up singing along with,” said Henry.

Amanda Gauthier, executive assistant and event coordinator, said “The Barricade Boys” will also share hilarious and inspiring stories from their time on the stage performing in West End productions like “Wicked,” “Billy Elliot,” “The Phantom of the Opera,” “The Sound of Music,” Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat and more.

Ticket prices range from $27-$37 but there are student and senior discounts and Arts Council members get a 25 percent discount. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at louisiana-arts.org.

Sponsors for the show include the City of Alexandria, GAEDA and the Holiday Inn Downtown Alexandria.

Other upcoming events include a screening of “The Only Doctor” which is part of the Tour of Independent Filmmakers. It will be presented Oct. 16 on the Hearn state at the Kress Theater. Audience members will have a chance to talk to the filmmaker before and after the screening. Tickets will be available at louisiana-arts.org.

The Arts Council is also preparing for the annual Fall Art Walk set for Oct. 20 in downtown Alexandria. Artist and food vendor applications are available online at louisiana-arts.org.
