2 detained after barricade situation in Northwest DC

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said officers detained two people after a barricade situation in Northwest Thursday morning.

MPD said things started when someone who was robbed flagged down officers near the 900 block of U St. NW. The person said two people were involved in the robbery.

Two men shot in Northeast DC, police investigating

Police said the people ran into an empty building on the campus of Howard University. The building was in the 2000 block of Georgia Ave. NW.

A barricades situation followed, leading to road closures in the area:

  • 2000 block of Georgia Ave. NW, between V Street and Florida Avenue NW

  • 700-800 blocks of Florida Ave. NW, between 7th and 9th streets NW

The barricade situation ended when police detained the two people. The Metropolitan Police Department said there were no other people inside the building.
