Dec. 20—A Barrington man won $1.825 million in the Tri-State Megabucks jackpot earlier this month.
Richard Baker purchased the winning ticket on Dec. 8 at Circle K in Northwood and opted to take the one-time cash payout of $1.32 million (before taxes) instead of annual payments over 30 years, according to a news release.
After taxes, Baker's net will be $1,003,251, according to the lottery. The state withheld 24% for federal taxes only.
The winning numbers from the drawing on Dec. 8 were: 3-9-11-21-33 MB-5.
This is the first New Hampshire Tri-State Megabucks jackpot winner since June 2019, when a lucky player purchased a $2.4 million winning ticket at the Hannaford Supermarket on John Devine Drive in Manchester. The prize was claimed by the Houdini Nominee Trust of 2019, Portsmouth.
The next Tri-State Megabucks drawing is set for Wednesday, with a $1.075 million jackpot. Tri-State Megabucks tickets have been on sale since 1985 in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Drawings are held Wednesdays and Saturdays.
