Barrows masterful in Enfield's baseball win over Suffield

Apr. 15—The Enfield High baseball team, which had scored at least six runs in each of its first four games, put up a season-low two on Friday.

It proved to be one more than Trent Barrows needed.

The senior fired a three-hitter as the Eagles blanked Suffield 2-0 in a non-league game at Bob Bromage Field. He walked two and struck out nine.

Enfield (4-1) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning as a fielder's choice by Cannon Marshall brought home Jack Raymond, who had led off with a triple. The Eagles added an insurance run in the third with Marshall's single scoring Andrew Cekala.

In 14 innings against Enfield, the Wildcats scored no one runs and had only six hits. The Eagles' Jake Lubanski pitched a three-hit shutout in a 6-0 win over Suffield on April 7.

Sam Beaudoin pitched well in defeat for the Wildcats (3-4), allowing five hits. He walked none and fanned nine.

ELLINGTON 12, E. WINDSOR/INT'L. 5. In Ellington, Cam Thomas hit a two-run home run to highlight a seven-run bottom of the first inning as the host Knights won the non-conference game.

Freshman Dylan Killoran picked up his first varsity win on the mound for Ellington (5-1), striking out six while allowing two runs in four innings.

Conor Dobrowolski had two hits, scored two runs and stole two bases and Evan Robbins played well defensively in the win. Matt Blachuta hit a two-run home run for the Bobcats (1-4).

BOLTON 16, HMTCA 1. In Bolton, Bryan Diehl had three hits, scored three runs and drove in two as the host Bulldogs made it back-to-back wins in non-league action. The game was called in the fifth inning due to the mercy rule.

Ben Roth added two hits, two runs scored, and two RBIs for Bolton (2-5). Winning pitcher Jack Werhle scored three runs while allowing two hits in five innings. HMTCA is 1-3.
