WWE Hall of Famer Barry Windham suffered a major heart attack last Friday and remains in the ICU after an emergency operation to save his life. Windham is the uncle of Bray Wyatt and Bo Dallas, whose sister posted a GoFundMe to ask for assistance with medical bills. Windham is best known for his appearances with WWF, WCW, and the NWA where he was a member of the iconic Four Horsemen stable as well as one-half of the legendary U.S. Express tag team.
According to the GoFundMe, the heart attack took place while traveling in the Atlanta Airport and the family is currently “impatiently waiting to hear that he will be okay. But as of now, the future is uncertain.”
Because of Windham’s profession as a pro wrestler, injuries have limited his ability to work in recent years and he reportedly has no health insurance. Windham’s injuries from his wrestling career forced him to undergo various surgeries, which eventually led to other health complications. As of this writing, the GoFundMe has raised over $27,000 of the $200,000 goal.
Legends, entire promotions, and current Superstars alike from the world of pro wrestling have sent their best wishes to Windham on social media including fellow Horsemen and Hall of Famer Ric Flair, The Iron Sheik, and Goldust just to name a few.
Windham signed with the WWF in 1984, wrestling his final match in 2010. After his lengthy career, he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012 as a member of the Four Horsemen. He was trained by the legendary Harley Race and his father, Blackjack Mulligan. We here at USA Network wish Barry a speedy recovery.
