New Barstool Sports restaurant and bar set to open in downtown Nashville

Digital media company Barstool Sports is planning to put down roots in Nashville with an upcoming restaurant and bar at 123 Second Ave. S.

The property was previously home to Joe's Crab Shack, which shuttered in September.

According to a Business Entity Detail on the Tennessee Secretary of State's website, SBH NSH LLC — active and formed in the state — is Barstool Nashville's assumed name. SBH NSH most likely refers to Stanton & Bowery Hospitality's presence in Nashville.

Other documents previously filed for Barstool Sports bars include “SBH CHI LLC” in Chicago and “SBH PHL LLC” in Philadelphia.

A permit record shows SBH NSH LLC as the new occupant of the downtown building.

The national Barstool Sports brand, founded by internet figure David Portnoy in 2003, has an affiliation with Music City as it has an active Barstool Nashville online community.

Known for its sports content and pop cultural relevancy, Barstool Sports is set to be fully owned by Wyomissing, Pennsylvania-based Penn Entertainment, which has held 36% ownership of the media brand since 2020.
