Barstow Police arrest couple after children found inside home with drugs, loaded firearms

A Barstow couple was arrested on suspicion of having firearms, ammunition, and drugs inside a home where several children lived, police said.

Around 2:30 p.m. on Aug. 4, Barstow detective Bryce Carson and officers conducted a follow-up investigation about the illegal possession of firearms at a home in the 500 block of Lillian Drive, according to police.

The area is located south of Main Street and Lillian Park, and a few blocks from Barstow Superior Court.

Officers said they served a search warrant at the address, where they spoke with 34-year-old Daniel Silva, and 27-year-old Dolores Reynoso, according to police.

Inside the home, detectives said they found methamphetamine, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, six rifles, four shotguns, and nine pistols. Three of the firearms were reported stolen out of Victorville and Barstow, the police report stated.

Detectives also learned that several children lived in the home and had access to loaded firearms and drugs, Barstow police officials said.

Silva was arrested on suspicion of being a felon while possessing a firearm, possessing a controlled substance while armed, and child endangerment. Reynoso was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance while armed, and child endangerment, according to police.

They were booked into the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s High Desert Detention Center.

Silva was released on bail the day after his arrest according to sheriff’s booking records that show no information on Reynoso.

A woman claiming to be Reynoso contacted the Daily Press on Friday disputing the police report. She claimed children were not in the home or on the property, and that police made contact away from the residence. She also disputed the charges and said police did not serve the search warrant.
