Bartlesville swim team shines in home meet

On Tuesday, Bartlesville High School’s swim team blew another set of opponents out of the water.

The Lady Bruins outscored Wesleyan Christian, Putnam City North and Broken Arrow girls by a combined score of 364-70, while the Bruins broomed the boys’ teams from the same schools, 316-116, in competition at the Phillips Aquatic Center.

Also participating were local homeschool poolsters, who grabbed multiple individual championships.

LADY BRUINS

Bartlesville swept first place in all three relay races (200 medley, 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle). … Emma Howze hustled to two individual titles (200 individual medley, 100 back). … In the 200 I.M., Bartlesville swept the top three places (Howze, first; Addison Williams, second; and Annabelle Droege, third). … Winners of one individual event each were: Lily Talbot (200 free), and Gabrielle Burke (50 free), … Bartlesville seized the first three spots in the 50 free (Burke, first; Erin Roper, second; Evelynn Pratt, third).

BRUINS

Bartlesville surged to first place in every relay event. … Jarrett Moore burst to first in two individual events (200 I.M., 100 free). … Individual single event winners included Griffin Craig (100 fly), Cody Lay (500 free) and Luke Olsen (100 back). … Griffin experienced his first individual event loss when Wesleyan Christian’s Sam Conrad edged him out for first in the 100 breast). Griffin still boasts an ultra impressive 9-1 championship record in individual titles.

Results for the Wesleyan Christian School competitors include: Abby Wells (girls 200 I.M., 5th; 100 breast, 6th)), Sam Conrad (boys 100 fly, 2nd; 100 breast, 1st), and Anna Wells (girls 100 free, 5th; girls 100 back, 5th).

Addison Howze hammered out two girls individual championships (100 free, 100 breast). Other Homeschool highlights were: Camden McDonald (boys 200 free, 2nd; boys 500 free, 4th), and Tristiin Weaver (girls 100 fly, 1st; 100 back, 2nd),
