Baseball Hall of Famer Wade Boggs to be keynote speaker at luncheon in Berks County

Jun. 25—Baseball Hall of Famer Wade Boggs will be the keynote speaker at the Law Foundation of Berks County and PICPA Reading Chapter Holiday Benefit Luncheon on Friday, Dec. 2, at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Reading.

Boggs, a third baseman who was elected to the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility in 2005, finished his career with 3,010 hits and a .328 batting average in 18 seasons. He spent the first 11 years of his career with the Boston Red Sox before signing as a free agent with the New York Yankees following the 1992 season. He won a World Series with the Yankees in 1996. After five seasons with New York, Boggs played the final two years of his career with Tampa Bay.

He was a five-time American League batting champion, 12-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove Award winner.

Other guests at the event have been Mike Schmidt (twice), Pete Rose, Larry Bowa, Mitch Williams, Larry Andersen, Steve Carlton, Jamie Moyer, Joe Morgan, John Kruk, Johnny Bench, Brad Lidge and Jim Thome.
