Baseball-Major League Baseball roundup

June 6 (The Sports Xchange) - The Baltimore Orioles officially placed right-handed starter Miguel Gonzalez on the 15-day disabled list because of a right oblique strain, the team announced Friday. Gonzalez, 30, is 3-4 with a 4.17 ERA over 58 1/3 innings in 11 games (10 starts) for the Orioles this season.. The Orioles also recalled left-hander Tim Berry from Double-A Bowie, selected the contract of right-hander Evan Meek from Triple-A Norfolk and optioned right-hander Preston Guilmet to Norfolk. - - - New York Mets right-hander Matt Harvey, who is recovering from Tommy John surgery, had a scheduled throwing session pushed back, according to the New York Daily News. Harvey had the surgery eight months ago and was set to throw off a mound on Tuesday. However, the team decided to postpone the session as a precaution. - - - Boston Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli (dislocated left ring finger) was on track to be activated off the disabled list Sunday to play against Detroit. Red Sox hitting coach Greg Colbrunn will remain at the Cleveland Clinic for observation "for at least a week," manager John Farrell said. Colbrunn is recovering from a subarachnoid hemorrhage. - - - Cincinnati Reds right-hander Mat Latos will make one more Triple-A rehab start on Monday at a site to be determined. His last outing was cut short by a minor cramp leaving him shy of the desired 90-100 pitches. Latos says he is ready to be activated now. "It's pretty bogus that I have to go on another rehab assignment. There's no point," he said. "I'm perfectly fine. I'm just a puppet on a string." (Editing by Gene Cherry)
