JACKSON — The Quincy Orioles staged a dramatic come from behind victory over Jackson High School at the Al Glick Invite on Saturday, winning 4-3 in eight innings.

Jackson jumped out to the early advantage, building a 3-0 lead after five innings. Quincy’s offense could not seem to get any traction until the seventh inning when the Orioles exploded for three runs, knotting up the score.

Quincy did all of their damage in the seventh inning with two outs and it all started with a Riley Miner walks. Hunter Tinervia followed that up with a single to right field, followed by a hard hit line drive single to center field from Brady Mescher, allowing Miner to score, closing the game to 3-1. After Mescher moved up to second on a steal, Karsen Maurer singled to centerfield, bringing home both Tinervia and Mescher to tie the score up at 3-3.

Jackson threatened in the bottom of the seventh inning, moving a runner up to third base with two outs, however the defense came through and recorded the final out on a line drive to centerfield, sending the game tied to extra innings.

Extra inning rules mean each team starts with a runner at second base to start. After Ryan Kempter sacrificed base runner Grant Holroyd to third to kick off the inning, Drayden Feltner hit an RBI single to the infield, bringing home Holroyd and giving Quincy the 4-3 lead.

in the bottom of the eighth inning it was Jackson working their base runner to third base with one out. With the Quincy infield drawn in to prevent the run from scoring, a hard hit grounder to Mescher allowed him to throw out the runner at home attempting to score. The catcher, Holroyd, then threw out the Jackson runner attempting to move to second base, ending the game and giving the Orioles the exciting 4-3 win.

Dreyden Feltner took the win on the mound for Quincy, throwing three innings in relief, allowing two hits and one walk with five strikeouts.

Brady Mescher made the start on the mound, throwing three innings while allowing one hit and one run with one walk and one strikeout. Mason Snyder pitched two innings in relief, allowing five hits and two runs with two strikeouts.

Brady Mescher and Hunter Tinervia both recorded two singles in the win while Karsen Maurer added a single, a walk and two Rbis. Riley Miner added a single, a walk and a run scored while Dreyden Feltner added the winning RBI single.

Quincy is now 10-8 on the season and will play Jonesville on Tuesday.

Bronson falls to high powered Parma Western

BRONS — The Bronson Vikings dropped a non-conference tilt to Parma Western on Saturday, falling by the score of 18-0.

Western scored early and often in the victory, putting up four runs in the first inning, three in the second, four in the third and seven in the fourth as it was the Panthers out hitting Bronson 17-3 in the 18-0 four inning win.

Nolan Ray took the loss on the mound for Bronson after throwing two innings in the start, allowing 10 hits and seven runs, four earned, with one home run allowed.

Colin Smith came in to pitch in relief, throwing one inning and a third, giving up six hits and eight runs with two walks and a strikeout.

Dawson Soergel came in to relieve Smith, throwing a third of an inning, allowing one hit and three runs, only one earned while Seth Withington finished off the game, throwing a third of an inning.

At the plate Reagan Mayer continued to his torrid pace of play, leading the Bronson offense with a double. Adding singles for the Vikings were Ashton Wells and Owen Kimmons.

Bronson is now 6-13 on the season with a double header battle versus Union City taking place Tuesday.
