Menard track star, LSU signee Aly Jo Warren voted as Alexandria area athlete of the week

Menard senior and LSU track and field signee Aly Jo Warren is The Town Talk's inaugural athlete of the week for Jan. 3-9.

At the 2022 LSU High School Classic, Warren placed second in the girls pole vault with a jump of 12 feet and 1¾ inches.

Following Warren in the poll were Alexandria Senior High boys basketball senior Noah Jonker, Tioga track and field senior Sherman Hawkins and Rosepine girls basketball senior Addison Fruge.

Wyatt Austin, Evans: Austin led all scorers with 31 points as the Eagles lost 73-71 in double overtime to DeQuincy on Jan. 3.

JaWarren Cade, Many: Cade scored 25 points as the Tigers rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat Leesville, 58-49, on Jan. 3.

Jose Carreon, Glenmora: Carreon scored four goals and assisted on another in the Wildcats’ 8-0 win over Delta Charter.

Dalyn Davis, Natchitoches Central: Davis averaged 16 points and eight rebounds in the Chiefs’ District 1-5A opening wins over Airline and Byrd.

Addison Fruge, Rosepine: Fruge averaged 24 points and as the Lady Eagles held DeRidder and Pleasant Hill to 44 points.

Sherman Hawkins, Tioga: Hawkins won the boys high jump at the 2022 LSU High School Classic with a leap of 6 feet and 1½ inches.

Noah Jonker, ASH: Averaged 24.3 points and 7.7 rebounds on 71.1 percent shooting as the Trojans won the Rebel Roundball Classic at Teurlings Catholic.

Blaine Perkins, Plainview: In his first game in nearly two years, Perkins scored 25 points and 11 rebounds in the Hornets’ win over Grant.

Emma Tucker, Oak Hill: Tucker made 13 3-pointers and averaged 20.5 points during Oak Hill’s wins against Pitkin and Evans.

Aly Jo Warren, Menard: Warren placed second in the girls pole valu at the 2022 LSU High School Classic with a jump of 12-1¾.
