Basketball legend Sue Bird among the named SXSW 2024 keynote and featured speakers

For a few days each March, Austin becomes the smartest city in the world. One reason: The well-developed brains of the technology, film, television and music leaders who gather here for SXSW.
The festival has just announced another wave of keynote and featured speakers for March 8-16. At the head of this celebrity class is Sue Bird, five-time Olympic gold medalist, four-time FIBA Basketball World Cup gold medalist, four-time WNBA champion, two-time NCAA champion and 13-time WNBA All-Star.

A business founder, Bird is the fiancee of American soccer superstar Megan Rapinoe. She is the subject of a new documentary film, "Sue Bird: In the Clutch," which addresses problems such as unequal pay for women athletes, the dearth of modern maternity care and reasons for avoiding athletic play in Russia.

The red-hot topic of artificial intelligence will likely play a big part in a SXSW keynote speech by Jessica Robertson, author of national bestseller "Unmasking AI: My Mission to Protect What is Human in a World of Machines." Computer scientist and founder of Algorithmic Justice League Joy Buolamwini is the third keynoter announced today.

In addition, SXSW will welcome featured speakers such as onetime Austinite Mark Duplass, actor, filmmaker, and producer ; two-time Emmy Award-winner Julie Bowen, a founding board member of Baby2Baby; Nancy Northup, president and CEO for the Center for Reproductive Rights; and Sarah Herrlinger, Apple’s senior director of global accessibility policy and initiatives.
How to attend SXSW 2024
SXSW will be March 8-16. At press time, badge rates were $1,990 for a Platinum pass (which grants access to all festival and conference tracks); $1595 for an Interactive festival pass; $1,495 for a Film and Television festival pass and $945 for a music festival badge.
