Sophomores fall to Sterling

GALESBURG — The Galesburg High School sophomore boys basketball team fell to Sterling 51-47 on Tuesday night at John Thiel Gym.

Amarie Richardson had 16 points to lead the Silver Streaks, and Talen Davis added 10 points for Galesburg.

Anderson nabs career win No. 701

ONEIDA — The ROWVA/Williamsfield boys basketball team defeated Abingdon-Avon 64-59 Tuesday night to give Cougars coach Bob Anderson career win No. 701.

Graham Wight had 29 points to lead the way for R/W.

Blue Bullets move to 18-5 overall

KEWANEE — The Knoxville High School boys basketball team beat Wethersfield 58-38 on Tuesday night.

David Hise led the way for the Blue Bullets with 23 points, and Bryar Fleisher added nine points for Knoxville.

United takes Princeville

MONMOUTH — The United High School boys basketball team downed Princeville 67-59 on Tuesday evening.

Abel Wilson had 26 points to lead the Red Storm, and Cormaic Flynn chipped in 24 points for United.

Ridgewood falls at Stark County

TOULON — The Ridgewood boys basketball team suffered a 61-58 loss to Stark County on Tuesday night.

Josh Maher had 17 points to lead the Spartans. Lucas Kessinger chipped in 15 points, and Aaron Gotthardt added 13 points for Ridgewood.

West Central stumbles

BIGGSVILLE — The West Central boys basketball team was upended by Mercer County 61-29 on Tuesday evening.

Mason Carnes led the Heat with 10 points.

In other area boys action Tuesday, Monmouth-Roseville secured a 42-28 win over Erie-Prophetstown at “The Shoebox.”

North Fulton suffered a 60-40 road loss to Peoria Heights, and Galva went on the road and beat Annawan 60-37.

In girls hoops, Knoxville grabbed a 54-40 home win over Peoria Heights on Tuesday night.
