Basketball roundup: Big third quarter sends Portland girls past East Lansing
PORTLAND 35, EAST LANSING 28
PORTLAND — Malia Thelen had 13 of her game-high 19 points in the second half while helping the Raiders to a nonleague victory over East Lansing. Portland (5-2) trailed by one at halftime but outscored the Trojans 13-3 in the third quarter to take control. Freshman Kaylee King had 11 points to lead East Lansing.
LESLIE 53, JACKSON 43
Lily Smieska had 14 points to help the Blackhawks (3-3) to a nonleague win. Rylie Burton added 11 points and Sam Snider and Reece DeRose each scored eight for Leslie.
HASLETT 62, FOWLER 35
HASLETT -- Isabel Lindo led the Vikings with 20 points, six steals, four assists and four steals as Haslett secured a nonleague win over Fowler. Maddie Fant scored 12 points, Grace Isenhath tallied a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds and Emily Homan hauled in seven rebounds and dished out six assists for Haslett (6-0). Grace O’Hare finished with a team-high 11 points and Kelcie Pung added eight points for the Eagles (4-3). JV score: Haslett d. Fowler

OLIVET -- Bryce Wine had 19 points — all in the opening half — while helping the Eagles roll to the nonleague win. Wine hit five 3s for Olivet, which went 9 of 19 from behind the arc. Bo Lincoln added nine points and four steals and Brayden Wine had nine points and five rebounds for the Eagles (5-0). Bath dropped to 1-2.
KALAMAZOO LOY NORRIX 74, SEXTON 69
The J-Dubbs dropped their opening game of the Mason Holiday Hoops Tournament and will face Pinckney in the third-place game at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
