Baskin-Robbins' Olympics-Themed Flavor Is Back

What better way to commemorate the Olympics than with an on-theme ice cream flavor? Baskin-Robbins is bringing back a crowd favorite perfectly timed with the Tokyo 2021 games: the Gold Medal Ribbon ice cream.

Creamy vanilla ice cream is layered with the rich chocolate flavor and striped with a golden caramel ribbon throughout (...the gold medal!), so you can have a little victory with every bite. It’s the perfect combination of sweet and salty to dip into while watching the world’s best athletes compete for gold. If you’re celebrating alone, head over to your closest Baskin-Robbins and order a scoop or two in a chocolate-dipped waffle cone. Or pick up a container from their dipping cabinet. You deserve it, you champion! For your whole team, opt for the ice cream to top a Polar Pizza or come in ice cream cake form. Can’t pull yourself away from the Olympic games? Get it delivered to you online or via DoorDash and UberEats.

The ice cream company has frequently brought back the popular flavor during the Olympics since they first debuted it in 1979 “to honor being a champion with every scoop,” according to the company website. Baskin-Robbins joins brands like Chipotle, which wrapped its burritos in gold foil, and Nabisco, which launched the Olympics limited-edition Chips Ahoy, Oreo, and Ritz Crackers, to celebrate the 2021 games with some patriotic packaging and themed snacks.

Gold Medal Ribbon ice cream is currently available in select stores, but it won’t be forever. Its infrequent returns never last much longer than the games, so grab your own gold medal before it's gone!
