Basney, Guyton and Norris win Junior Metro golf titles
SOUTH BEND – Beau Basney, Tate Guyton and Lillian Norris won division titles Thursday as the Greater South Bend Junior Metro Golf Championships ended a three-day run at Studebaker Park Golf Course.
Basney, who played on Saint Joseph’s sectional championship team as a freshman in the spring, closed with a 5-over 65 for a two-day total of 136 for his second straight Junior Metro title as champion of the Boys 15-16 division. He beat teammate and fellow classmate Liam Wagner, who closed with a 73 for a 142 total.

The lowest total of the day, however, belonged to Guyton, an incoming freshman at Saint Joseph High School. Guyton shot a closing 69 for a two-day total of 130 to win the Boys 13-14 division title by three strokes over Dane Sweikar, who closed with a 68 for a 133 total.
Norris, an incoming freshman at Penn High School from Granger, improved 10 strokes Thursday to capture the Girls 13-14 division title. She totaled 188 after rounds of 99 and 89.
