Bass Pro Shops, O'Reilly Auto Parts make Forbes' list of best large employers

Two Springfield-based companies are among 500 employers in the country ranked highly by Forbes magazine's latest business directory.

Bass Pro Shops and O'Reilly Auto Parts rank No. 323 and No. 398, respectively, on Forbes' "America's Best Largest Employers" list, published on Wednesday.

To compile the list, Forbes partnered with Statista, a marketing research firm, to conduct a survey of about 45,000 employees at American companies and institutions with more than 5,000 employees. Participants were asked to rank their current employers on a scale of zero to 10, based on how likely they would recommend the employer to friends and family.

Last year, Bass Pro ranked No. 46 and O'Reilly ranked No. 70 on Forbes' "America's Best Employers by State" for Missouri. This list compiled results of a survey of about 70,000 employees working for institutions with at least 500 employees. O'Reilly also made Forbes' "Best Employers for Veterans" list last year, ranking No. 122.
