Bass season is on its way, Idaho. Get ready with this immersive class!

There are lots of reasons folks look forward to spring weather after a long, chilly winter — but for many local anglers, bass season ranks near the top of the list!

Bass have long been one of my favorite species, so I’m more than ready for prime bass season to arrive. From feisty smallmouth in the Snake River to lunker largemouth in lowland lakes and reservoirs, southern Idaho is absolutely loaded with bass fishing opportunities.

Spring is an exciting time to fish for bass, which are hungry and on the hunt after a long winter of relative inactivity. The fish are also getting ready to spawn, so practicing catch-and-release during spring and early summer is recommended (and, at many local fisheries, required).

If you want to enjoy your best season of bass fishing yet, be sure to check out my next Tight Lines 208 fishing class, All About That Bass, happening Thursday, April 20, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Idaho Rod & Reel in Nampa.

This in-depth class focuses on the lures, gear, tactics and know-how anglers need to catch more and bigger bass in Idaho waters. From cranking feisty smallmouth off rocky river structure to flipping and pitching for largemouth in the weed beds, we’ll cover it all! For more details and registration, visit www.tightlines208.com. Happy spring fishing, and tight lines!
