Bat against a WooSox pitcher? Be a coach for a game? WooSox unveil rewards program for fans
WORCESTER — If Larry Lucchino achieves his latest goal, then Marriott, American Airlines and Visa will have stiff competition from the Worcester Red Sox.
The WooSox’ principal owner’s newest brainchild is a robust rewards program for fans to reap the benefits when attending games at Polar Park. Lucchino describes it as second-to-none, and he’s thrilled about the possibility of spoiling those who spoil the team.
Lucchino has been cultivating this program for some time, and the team finally announced its creation Wednesday afternoon in a press release.
“WooSox Rewards is bigger, better and bolder,” Lucchino said. “We have spent some productive time imaging experiences you just can’t get anywhere else, and we think fans will find these rewards new, different and cool.”
The new loyalty program is free and allows fans to earn points that can be redeemed for prizes and unique experiences. The new WooSox Rewards app will be available prior to the 2023 season. Current members of the team’s booster club, WooU Student Program and WooCrew will be automatically enrolled in the new program.
A low-tech option will also be available for those traditional fans that would rather have a WooSox Rewards membership card. Cards will be available at home games, or by calling (508) 500-1000, or via email at rewards@woosox.com. There will also be a WooSox Rewards World Headquarters located on the First Base Plaza.
Now it’s time for the big news.
What type of benefits will fans receive for their loyalty?
First, there are three levels of memberships: Hall of Fame (Gold), All-Star (Silver) and Leadoff Hitter (White). Once fans earn enough points to reach a threshold, they will stay at that membership category for the remainder of the season.
Lucchino & Co. created a list of the Top 100 WooSox Rewards that range from a free ice cream to a personalized WooSox jersey, autographed memorabilia, throwing out a ceremonial first pitch, free parking, watching fireworks on the field, a spring training weekend trip to JetBlue Park in Fort Myers, Florida, or watching a Red Sox game at Fenway Park from Lucchino’s dugout seats.
Full season ticket-holders will earn 500 points for enrolling in the new rewards program. Half-season ticket-holders receive 200 points, while Mini-plan holders receive 50 points.
Fans also will be able to donate points to a friend or charity (those plans will be announced at a later date).
At the conclusion of the 2023 season, the fan who accrues the most points will be honored as the Worcester Red Sox Fan of the Year.
