‘Bates Motel’: Will Dylan Testify Against Norman?

Although Dylan (Max Thieriot) is well aware of Norman’s (Freddie Highmore) murderous tendencies, he has been nothing but protective of his brother ever since the latter confessed to the murder of Sam Loomis (Austin Nichols). But this will seemingly change in next week’s Season 5, episode 9 of “Bates Motel” when Dylan finds out that Norman accused Madeleine (Isabelle McNally) of killing her own husband.

In the trailer for the final season’s penultimate episode, Madeleine confronts Dylan in an attempt to find out the truth about what went down between Norman and Sam.

“You knew,” Madeleine insists to Dylan in the preview clip. “You’re his brother, you knew.”

While it remains to be seen whether or not Dylan will tell Madeleine about Norman’s blackouts, the new dad knows that it’s very unlikely that Madeleine murdered Sam. As viewers will remember, Dylan bumped into a worried Madeleine on his way to Norman’s house in Season 5, episode 7. So as early as that time, Dylan knew that Madeleine has been looking for her husband.

Another factor that may force Dylan to testify against Norman is Emma’s (Olivia Cooke) discovery that her mom, Audrey Ellis (Karina Logue), may have really been murdered by Norman just like what Dylan suspected in Season 4.

In the trailer, Norman’s lawyer, Julia Ramos (Natalia Cordova-Buckley), pays Emma a visit to question her about Norman and the murder charges against him. “I know that this is a difficult time,” Julia says as she tries to get information from Emma, who does not seem to be in the mood for some questioning.

As also seen in the preview clip, Norman is charged with three counts of murder with death being the maximum penalty on conviction. While it seems that Norman will be found guilty and eventually face capital punishment, Alex (Nestor Carbonell) has a different plan. “I want him dead,” Alex says of Norman. “[But] I will do it myself.”

“Bates Motel” Season 5, episode 9, titled “Visiting Hours,” airs on Monday, April 17 at 10 p.m. EDT on A&E. Check out the synopsis and trailer for the episode below:

“Norman’s legal problems worsen; Emma tends to family business as Dylan gets caught between his past and his future; and Alex enacts his plan for revenge.”
