Jan. 31—BATESVILLE — Here's what's planned for the next couple of weeks at Batesville Memorial Public Library.

Feb. 1 — 1 p.m. — Adult Felting Class — Needle felting workshops will take a slight detour for the next few months. Our regular instructor, Janet Paden, will be unavailable. Until she returns, we will have Free Felting Classes. You can use the kits and materials and design an object of your desire. Many experienced felters are in each session, so feel free to come even if you are new to the craft. Newcomers will be assisted through a beginner-level project.

Feb. 2 at 10 a.m. — Open Block Play — Join Miss Sarah in the Activity Lab for block play. Kiddos will have the choice to play with multiple different style stacking blocks. Come meet new friends and build with us. This program is designed for children ages 1 to 4. Registration is not required.

Feb. 5 at 10 or 11 a.m. — Mother Goose Toddler Time for ages 0-3. Miss Sarah will host a 30 minute session designed to stimulate the learning process of babies and toddlers. Registration is not required.

Feb. 6 at 10 a.m., 2 and 6 p.m. — There's no time like Storytime! Join us every Tuesday for a fun filled 45 minute session that incorporates books, songs, and activities to build early literacy skills. This program is geared towards children ages 3 to 6. Registration is not required.

Feb. 6 at 4 p.m. — Story Seekers Book Club — Participants will discuss the book of their choice and start reading The Lightning Thief (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Book 1). This book club is for grades 3rd — 8th and meets the first Tuesday of the month. To learn more visit ebatesville.com/events.

Feb. 8 at 4 p.m. — Kids Who Code — This is a new BMPL youth program! Interested in computer coding? Join us for a fun introduction to coding. We will be talking and working with mini Spheros. This program is for children in 1st — 6th grade. Registration is required. — www.ebatesville.com/events

Feb. 8 at 5 p.m. — Visit with Nanny the Dog — Eli's Dog Club presents: Pugs and Kisses and Birthday Wishes! Stop in to visit with Nanny the dog, write a love note (Eli's favorite thing to do), and wish Nanny a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! She will be in the Activity Lab in the Children's area from 5-6. Registration is not required., just stop by!

Feb. 12 — 6:30 p.m. — Couponing Basics — If you set a goal for the new year to save money, then this is the class for you! I will show you how to never pay full price again for everyday essentials and groceries. Gone are the days of clipping pesky coupons. I will show you how to save money all from your phone!. Registration is not required.

Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. — Economics Plain and Simple -Stocks, Bonds, and Insurance — Risks inherent in economic activities can be dealt with in a wide variety of ways, two of which include stocks and bonds. There are also other economic activities analogous to stocks and bonds, which deal with risks in legally different ways, though economically similar. We will explore these. NO REGISTRATION.

Feb. 13 at 6:30 p.m. — BMPL Eclipse Series guest speaker — The Experience of Totality: First Eclipse Experiences — Dr. Kate Russo is an author, psychologist, and eclipse chaser; and Founder of Being in the Shadow. Kate has now seen 13 total solar eclipses from 11 countries in her 24 years of chasing, and will be an eclipse chaser for life. She has published three books on the experience of totality, leads niche eclipse tours, and is in demand in the media and as a speaker due to her passionate sharing of the awe and wonder of totality. She also plays a leadership role in helping communities prepare for totality. In her presentation, Kate will share her insights and advice on preparing for your first-time total eclipse experience.
