Bath woman arrested on theft charges, two vehicles stolen

BATH, N.Y. (WETM) – A Bath woman has been arrested on theft charges in connection to the theft of two different vehicles from both Pennsylvania and New York.

According to the Village of Bath Police Department, Charlene C. Kowalski, 32, of Bath, was arrested after she allegedly stole a vehicle from the Save A Lot parking lot on West Morris Street in Bath on Jan. 14.

After police received the complaint, an investigation quickly located the vehicle in a parking lot in Marysville, Pennsylvania. Police officers from the Marysville Borough Police Department showed up where the vehicle was located, recovered the vehicle and took Kowalski into custody.

Kowalski was then charged in Pennsylvania and taken to the Cumberland County Prison, where she was later released. Village of Bath Police Department was made aware of her location and arrived at Casey Lane, where they found Kowalski, who had an active arrest warrant for grand larceny in the third degree, a class D felony.

Police say that at the time of the warrant arrest, Kowalski was found to have a stolen vehicle from Middlesex Township in Pennsylvania. She was then charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree, a class D felony.

Kowalski was then summonsed to Bath Village Court and placed into custody at the Steuben County Jail with the opportunity for bail.
