The Batman resumes UK production after Robert Pattinson coronavirus reports
The Batman has resumed production following a positive coronavirus diagnosis for a member of its team.
While Warner Bros did not officially confirm the identity of the infected employee, it was widely reported to be lead actor Robert Pattinson.
A statement released on Thursday stated: “Following a hiatus for Covid-19 quarantine precautions, filming has now resumed on The Batman in the UK.”
Production had only recently restarted near London, having been on hiatus for around six month during the pandemic.
The Batman is directed by Matt Reeves, the filmmaker best known for his acclaimed franchise sequels Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) and War for the Planet of the Apes (2017).
Alongside Pattinson’s dark knight, the film also stars Colin Farrell as Penguin, Paul Dano as Riddler, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
A trailer for the film released in August prompted a stunned reaction from fans, with many unable to recognise Farrell under his heavy Penguin prostheses.
The trailer also included a cryptic message left by the Riddler, which one sharp-minded viewer was able to successfully decode.
The Batman is set to be released in cinemas in October 2021.
