Bats are an important part of Northern California's ecosystem, but their population is declining

Hundreds of thousands of cars travel over the Yolo Causeway on Interstate 80 daily. But underneath that bypass are hundreds of thousands of native Northern California bats. The bats roost there during the day and fly out searching for food along the Delta at night. Bats aren't typically people's favorite little critters, but they play an important role in our region's ecosystem.
