Baxter girls golf finishes second in road triangular

May 7—COLO — Allison Colyn tied for third, Abbie Meyer finished in a four-way tie for fifth and the Baxter duo led the Bolts girls golf team to a second-place finish at a road triangular hosted by Colo-NESCO/Collins-Maxwell on Monday.

The Bolts shot a 210 in second. West Marshall won the meet with a 179 and host CN/CM was third with a 224.

On the boys' side, West Marshall won with a 163 and CN/CM was the runner-up with a 184. Baxter shot a 235 in third.

Colyn carded a 47 to lead the Baxter girls. Meyer shot a 49 and the other two counting scorers were Karlee Koehler (55) and Calleah Frink (59).

West Marshall's Kalyn Polley was the meet medalist with a 40 at the par 34 Twin Anchors Golf Course. West Marshall's Ella Meyer was the runner-up medalist with a 43.

Zach Backus led the Baxter boys with a 54. Carter Samson shot a 58 and Cam Petermeier (61) and Hudson Beathards (62) also had counting scores.

West Marshall's Joey Tollefson shot a 35 to win medalist honors. West Marshall's Luke Vawter carded a 41 as the runner-up medalist.

Baxter boys finish ninth in Iowa Star Conference tourney

CLARKSVILLE — Backus led the Bolts at the Iowa Star Conference tournament on Wednesday.

Baxter shot a 519 and finished ninth in the 10-team field. Don Bosco shot a 339 in first and had the meet medalist in Ty Purdy, who shot a 74.

Backus fired a 105 to lead the Bolts. Samson shot a 121 and Beathards (144) and Petermeier (149) also had counting scores.

North Tama shot a 351 in second and Clarksville (396), GMG (399) and CN/CM (401) completed the top five. The Bolts finished one shot in front of Riceville.

Austin Hennick of CN/CM was the runner-up medalist with a 79.
