Bay of Fires Illuminated by Milky Way in Tasmanian Photographer's Timelapse

A Tasmania-based photographer captured spectacular timelapse footage of the Milky Way over the Bay of Fires.

A video posted to Facebook on June 17 by Fergus Gregory shows the result of his work.

Gregory placed himself in Binalong Bay, situated at the southern end of the Bay of Fires, on the northeastern coast of Tasmania, for the timelapse.

The foreground of the final effort features a more earthbound local landmark too; the “lone tree,” the sight of which often attracts photographers to the area.

According to Discover Tasmania, “the limited ambient light, paired with some of the cleanest air in the world, makes Tasmania the perfect spot to gaze up at a brilliant night sky.” Credit: Fergus Gregory via Storyful
