Oct. 12—A 15-year-old Massachusetts girl hiking with her church group had to be carried off Dickey Mountain Monday afternoon after she slipped and fell.

The teen, who is from North Chelmsford, Mass., was descending the summit on the Welch and Dickey Trail in Thornton when the accident happened. The group was able to move the girl, who suffered a serious but non-life-threatening injury, from the summit, according to a news release from New Hampshire Fish and Game.

Volunteers from the Pemigewasset Valley Search and Rescue Team joined members of Campton-Thornton Fire Rescue and Fish and Game conservation officers in responding to the group's call for help.

The girl was carried off the mountain in a litter, reaching the trailhead around 6 p.m. The church group planned to return to Massachusetts to seek medical help for the injured girl, the news release said.
