Bayern Munich hope to have injured Joshua Kimmich back "in the foreseeable future," but said the player won't be available for the Bundesliga match against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday.

"He definitely won't play at the weekend. His sling makes it look worse than it is. We hope he'll return in the foreseeable future. We need to wait and see," Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund said on Tuesday, during the presentation of new defender Sacha Boey.

Kimmich suffered a shoulder injury in the Bundesliga match against Union Berlin last Wednesday and joined a long list of injured Bayern players, that include defender Dayot Upamecano and midfielder Konrad Laimer.

Winger Kingsley Coman will also be in the medical department for a while after he suffered a internal ligament tear in the 3-2 win against Augsburg on Saturday.

But Freund said that he's not sure whether the club will sign new players still in this winter transfer window, which closes on Thursday.

"We're not sure if we'll do something else this winter. The Asian Cup and Africa Cup of Nations are almost finished. We'll see what happens in the coming days or not," he said.

Bayern defenders Minjae Kim and Noussair Mazraoui are away at the Asian Cup and Africa Cup of Nations respectively.

"We're discussing things for how we deal with this situation with lots of injuries. But it doesn't have to be a transfer. We'll see," Freund said.

He added that the club is trying to bring forward Bryan Zaragoza to Munich earlier. He is originally set to join the German record champions from Granada in summer on a contract until June 2029.

"He will definitely be a Bayern player in the summer. We're in talks for whether it's possible to bring him to Munich earlier. There are always three parties involved. We'll have to see what happens in the coming days," Freund said.
